Yong Wei's design inspiration came from understanding the business logic of Bofek Furniture. The store offers customized furniture to its customers, who select styles, materials, and accessories from samples. The furniture is then produced according to the customers' selections. To build trust with customers, Wei decided to create a professional, efficient, and pragmatic brand image for the store. This led him to focus on product display and detail presentation, rather than space modelling.
The Bofek Furniture store, located in the Yubei District, Chongqing, China, covers an area of 1,000 square meters over two floors. The first floor is designed for customers to browse various categories of finished furniture, with items like wine cabinets, wardrobes, and cabinets serving as partitions. The second floor is dedicated to sample selection, design, negotiation, and contract signing. This layout covers all functional aspects of the store, from sample display to contract signing.
One of the unique features of Wei's design is the detailed display areas in each section. These areas present the surface materials, components, accessories, and internal structure of the furniture, providing customers with a comprehensive understanding of the product quality. An intelligent variable light system with no dominant light has been installed to ensure the best display effect for different materials like wood, glass, and stainless steel.
Wei faced several challenges during the design process. One of them was creating a strong visual impact for customers. To achieve this, he set up a large display cabinet of 140 square meters along the wall in the main body of the space. The change in spatial volume creates a strong visual impact, making the store memorable for customers. The lighting and staging have been carefully set to fully present the advantages of the products.
Yong Wei's design for Bofek Furniture is a testament to his innovative approach to interior design. By focusing on product display and detail presentation, he has created a retail space that not only meets the needs of the store but also provides a unique shopping experience for customers. The design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, is a testament to Wei's talent and creativity.
